Information

Henan Shuerkang Mugwort Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter also referred to as the Company) is a mugwort products production, physiotherapy, and healthcare enterprise that integrates mugwort planting, production, and processing, moxibustion physiotherapy, and R&D of “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”. It is worth saying that the Company is located in Ruyang County, historically known as the original site of Luli and a place where Sun Simiao became famous. Here, it is warm and windy in spring, hot and rainy in summer, cool and sunny in autumn, and cold and of less rain and snow in winter. On the whole, Ruyang County, a hilly area, boasts abundant light supply and moderate climate throughout the year, in addition to its fertile soil that contains a lot of organic matters and has strong capacity in water conservation and manure conservation. As a result, mugwort plants here are stout, mugwort leaf is large and thick, the leaf back is white and fluffy, and on the leaf there are numerous and long mugwort fibers. In Ruiyang County, mugwort leaf has refreshing and aromatic smell, and its aftertaste is slightly sweet. If it is used in moxa production, the yield is high. “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” has a time-honored history in planting and use. In the late Qin Dynasty and the early Han Dynasty, Zhou Shu, Wu Shi, Cui Guang, and Tang Bing, called “Four White-haired Hermits in Mount Shang” as a whole, escaped from the royal court and cloistered themselves in the Mount Shang to the west of Ruyang County town for they were dissatisfied with the Emperor Qin’s atrocious policy of burning books and burying Confucian scholars to death. Back then, there were few doctors and herbs, and Mr. Luli found that mugwort on the “Tiger Ridge” of Mount Shang exuded exotic fragrance, tasted mildly bitter, and had sweet aftertaste, so he gathered some mugwort plants for medical treatment. It is said that in the early Western Han Dynasty, after the “Four White-haired Hermits in Mount Shang” assisted Liu Ying in ascending to the throne, Queen Lv managed to slay Concubine Qi, making Liu Ying, the Emperor Hui of the Western Han Dynasty, fall into serious illness. Mr. Luli adopted moxibustion therapy to treat the emperor with mugwort he gathered from “Tiger Ridge” of Mount Shang of Ruyang, soon Liu Yang recovered from his illness. Simultaneously, Mr. Luli instructed the civilians the moxibustion therapy, so as to popularize the moxibustion. To express his gratitude to Mr. Luli, Emperor Hui gave the mugwort of “Tiger Ridge” of Mount Shang of Ruyang County the name “Luli Mugwort”, and gave native place of Mr. Luli the name “Luli Street”, in addition to building the Mount Shang Temple and Mount Shang Monastery. From verses like “Function as the supervisor in Xingtai, and pay a visit to you in Luli” (By Liu Yuxi of Tang Dynasty, from To Mr. Linghu) and “There is a great man in Zhongnan Mountain during Han Dynasty, and Mr. Luli lives in that valley,” (By Li Deyu, prime minister of Tang Dynasty, from Night Overlook to Yichuan) we can see that ancient poets spoke highly of Mr. Luli. According to Records on Rebuilding Monument of Mount Shan Temple and Annals of Yiyang County (Ruyang County was previously known as Liang County and Yiyang County) that were made during the reign of Emperor Jiajing of Ming Dynasty, Mr. Liuli, one of the “Four White-haired Hermits in Mount Shang”, adopted moxibustion therapy in Mount Shang, making all diseases cured, so the civilians worshipped him as “God of Mount Shang”, and called mugwort on the “Tiger Ridge” of Mount Shang as “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, there was a legendary thief called Liang Chaofeng in Yiyang County, who still walked fast and vigorously at the age of above 70. In the fourth year during the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Liang was arrested at Muzha Ridge and sentenced to death. Before his death, Liang was inquired by the official at the execution about his secret of keeping good health. Liang said: I followed my teacher’s instructions, and exert moxibustion at the Guanyuan acupuncture point on my lower abdomen at the turn of summer and autumn. After Liang was executed, the official at the execution cut open Liang’s abdomen, seeing one stone-like object that touches like flesh and also like bone and concluding that it results from long-term moxibustion. That exemplifies miraculous effect of Luli Mugwort. Since Tang Dynasty, Ruyang County has rebuilt the Mount Shang Temple several times, and the street in the south of Ruyang county was named Luli Street. Even the folk Luli Drum was handed down to the present time.

Henan Shuerkang Mugwort Products Co., Ltd. takes “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” as the raw material and integrates traditional manual moxa production technology with modern moxa production process. After being gathered before and after the Dragon Boat Festival, “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” will be subjected to the Company’s five production links, including natural sun drying, mechanical packing, ecological storage, and low-temperature moxa production. As a result, the moxa product is of high thermal value and strong penetrability. During the moxibustion, the heat will spread all over the body, and has the function of dredging the twelve regular meridians, getting through Three Yin Meridians, nourishing the primordial Yang, regulating “Qi” and blood, warming the uterus, warming the middle and expelling stagnation, and regulating menstruation and preventing miscarriage...

Zhang Liuxia, chairman of the board of the Company, was born of a well-known TCM family. In her childhood, Zhang learned from her father Chinese traditional medicine processing and TCM acupuncture. By now, she has been engaged in acupuncture, moxibustion, manipulation, cupping, skin scraping, and bloodletting for more than 20 years. Also, she sought instructions from leading authorities and famous veteran doctors of moxibustion discipline, and is good at the moxibustion therapy for strengthening Yang-qi, which works well in medical treatment by invigorating splenic Yang. In succession, Zhang procured qualifications like National Senior Moxibustion Therapy Practitioner, Senior Acupuncture and Moxibustion Practitioner, and Manipulation Practitioner, etc. Also, she is director with China Chinese Medicine Health Forum. In May, 2008, Zhang took the lead in founding Henan Shuerkang Mugwort Products Co., Ltd., which took advantage of the matching between aged Luli Mugwort and valuable herbs for treatment of different diseases, as well as developing a variety of special TCM moxa sticks with significant therapy effect. Ever since it was founded, the Company takes the genuine regional “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” growing in the fertile mountain soil as main raw material and integrates traditional manual moxa production technology with modern moxa production process to produce “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” products, such as moxa, moxa stick, moxa cone, and moxa cake, etc., which are used in moxibustion physiotherapy. Luli Mugwort is characterized by slow-paced combustion, mild heat, little smoke, complete volatilization of mugwort oil, and fast results and long therapy effect, and it will not get spongy or worm-eaten after long-term storage. Since it runs ahead of domestic products of its kind in the physiotherapy field, Luli Mugwort has strong market competitiveness. Not only were the Company’s products (like “Yushu” Luli Mugwort moxa stick, wool, and cake) sold well in 19 provinces and regions (cities) of China, but also were exported to overseas regions like Japan, ROK, Germany, the USA, and Canada, etc., making the Company win good reputation in the market.

In 2016, the Company established an industrial base for wild “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”, and guided farmers in the “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” growing area to plant the mugwort. On the one hand, the Company may preserve the source area of “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”. On the other hand, it can improve income of farmers who plant “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”, push ahead poverty alleviation, boost development of the county’s Chinese herbs industry, and drive farmers to get rich! In the “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” industrial base, the Company has set up “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” PGI Product Area with floor space of 131.67 square kilometers in Tiger Ridge of Mount Shang of Ruyang County. In some townships like Taoying Township, the Company has established “Ruyang Luli Mugwort” Planting and Breeding Base. Also, it has built a new production line with annual production capacity of 5000 tons of “Ruyang Luli Mugwort”. In addition, the Company vows to make “Yushu Ruyang Luli Mugwort” turn into a national famous brand, and cultivate the Ruyang County Mugwort Products and Moxibustion Physiotherapy Technology Industry Agglomeration Area.
